Robert Lipman works in the Computer Integrated Building Processes Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). For the past several years he has been involved with Product Data Standards for Steel Construction which includes the CIMsteel Integration Standards (CIS/2) and Industry Foundation Classes (IFC). He has been instrumental in helping software vendors implement CIS/2 in their products and in getting users to use CIS/2 in their work process.
