Paul Teicholz
Paul Teicholz received his education at Cornell and Stanford Universities in civil engineering and obtained his PhD in construction management.Ê He then worked as a consultant for Jacobs Associates where he developed and implemented computer applications for the construction industry.Ê After 5 years he went to Guy F Atkinson Co as the IT Mgr. where, over a 20 year period, applications were developed for all areas of the business.Ê In 1988 he returned to Stanford University to found CIFE, the Center for Integrated Facility Engineering, which focused on research on the business and technology issues associated with integration and visualization in the AEC industry.Ê After retiring from Stanford in 1998, he has worked as a consultant to the AEC industry.
Paul has been recognized among the most significant Innovators to "Technology and Materials" In the Construction Industry over the past 125 years, by Engineering News Record magazine, awarded the Peurifoy Construction Research Award by the Construction Research Council of the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1999, honored as Construction Management "Man of the Year" by the American Society of Civil Engineers (1985) and elected to the Phi Beta Tau engineering honor society at Cornell University.
His research and consulting interests include: business and technology issues involved in the integration of the design, construction and facility management processes; modeling of design and construction process to help predict project outcomes (cost, schedule and quality); applications of the Internet for electronic commerce and engineering-construction team support; application of visualization tools to improve the design and construction process; quality improvement methods for design and construction and their impact on value; improvement of business effectiveness using management techniques and technology that provides competitive advantages to an organization.
